Although this was a good concert, the atmosphere was not optimum during the first half of it: it was too quiet, not the enthusiasm one would have expected. But after the interval there was plenty of atmosphere. Station to Station this time did not begin with the accelerating, jerking sounds of a train, but it started straight away with Earl Slick’s solo, and during the rest of the tour this was to be the routine . “Thank you so much,A very good evening to you! It’s good to be back here”.Bowie say’s after Space Oddity .and he gets an offering of roses from the audience.

The first of a body of ten concerts given in the UK. There was a tremendous black ticket market; tickets sold at £40 to £80! Of this concert I have already found five different versions, but there must be many more. These tapes were simply sold to the audience on the 2nd and 3rd night in Wembley. When Bowie heard of this he got mad; therefore at the other British concerts the guarding was much more intensive and strict.

  1. I went to this concert as my hubby at the time was Bowie mad.I still had a good time as he played Golden years and China girl my faves Plus great to see him live on stage

  2. Just found this web site. I was at that gig and still have the ticket. I was at Luton College
at the time and my friend who worked in Dover got amazing seats so close you could see Bowies eye colours.

The gig was very good, started with Heroes. One of the best songs he did that night was Cat People.

I kept the program for many years but eventually gave it away. The ticket was £10.
