Bowie speaks. “Good evening Worcester” he says after Width of a Circle,“it’s nice to be here. It’ 5 nice to introduce you to the group tonight”. When Bowie announces White Light-White Heat he calls Lou Reed “a man that I admire very much”,and also Round & Round gets a lengthy introduction.

Source 1 needed a lot of work to make it sound well:

– the sound level was extremely low so it had to be lifted massively
– the 2 stereo channels had to be balanced
– it seems that the taper was quite away from the PA and so the audience
noise is much closer than the band. I tried to calm down the audience noise between tracks
– almost no bass. By adding some bass this was accompanied by a constant low frequency background noise. I tried to find a compromise for this
– the 2 parts of the original files had the song order partly mixed up and Jean Genie is cut after approx. 1,5 minutes.

Source 2 has a lot of hiss so I tried to remove it always having in mind that to much hiss removal takes off a lot of treble.
So again tried to find a compromise.

What makes this Matrix special is the fact that at the well known source (no. 2) the intro and the first half of Hang On To Yourself are missing.
This is now represented in source 1. Neverteless the last track, Round And Round is still only a fragment here.
In summary the Matrix is not only more complete but also better listenable as the resulting sound has more depth.
