Billboard has published its mid-year charts for 2016, and the late David Bowie has scored the top-selling vinyl album for the first half of the year with his final studio effort, Blackstar . The album, which was released two days before Bowie’s January 10 death, sold 57,000 vinyl copies — 21,000 more than the #2 bestselling LP, Adele ‘s 25 .
Also among the 10 bestselling vinyl records for 2016 so far are Bob Marley and the Wailers ‘ 1984 Legend compilation and The Beatles ‘ classic 1969 album Abbey Road . Legend landed in fifth place with 23,000 copies sold, while Abbey Road takes the #7 spot with 21,000 in sales.
Meanwhile, Blackstar was among the top 10 albums in overall pure sales, finishing at #8 with 428,000 copies sold.
