A good show and David Bowie and his band The Raw Moon ended their Isolar Tour in Paris on May 18, 1976. Three dates had originally been planned, but the final show on May 19 was cancelled due to insufficient ticket sales. David spent the moming of May 18 consulting art books in his room
at the Holel des Beaux-Arts, before strolling through the streets of the Saint Germain district with Iggy Pop and visiting his old friend Natacha Smolianoff, president of the French fan club. In the late aftermoon they went to the Pavillon de Paris for the soundcheck, where the musicians
had already been rehearsing for two hours.
The show began with an excerpt from the Luis Buñuel film Un Chien Andalou followed by the introduction of Station To Station.
The crowd at this last night of the tour was a true fan audience in total interaction with David, especially on Diamond Dogs, the highlight of the show.
After the gig David, Iggy, the musicians and guests were invited by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider of Kraftwerk to a surprise party in David’s honour held at the bar TEE on the Champs Elysées. Rumour has it that, after a very smoky evening, the gang ended the night driving
on the Paris ring road listening to electronic music ike Harmonia, Can, Neu, Van der Graaf Generator and some demos of Kraftwerk’s upcoming Trans Europe Express LP…
A few days later David Bowie and Iggy Pop settled down at the Chateau d’Herouville to compose the two fabulous albums, Low and The Idiot:
