Same as Worcester,up to and including Let’s Spend the Night Together.
Once again Bowie and the Spiders are in capital form; this is a first-class concert! Each song is played eminently,with full devotion.
After Width of a Circle Bowie says: “Good evening Chatham ,it’s nice to be here” and introducesthe band. “On piano there’s Mike Garson and on lead guitar Suzie Quatro“(Mick Ronson that is!). “Right!” he then shouts,“this is a number by the Rolling Stones,it’s called Let’s Spend the Night Together“.
The show itself has a very warm and almost cosy atmosphere. The audience is reacting to some parts of the show in a very direct and positive way (obviously also to some visuals).
The taper had a good position as the instruments and Bowie’s voice come across equally good and there is almost no audience chat near the taper.
Some oddities: During Hang On To Yourself the bass amplifier fails but tunes in before the end of the song. Bowie misses the first words of his text at Changes.

All known versions are incomplete and have a wrong running order. Let’s Spend The Night Together is placed between Changes and Space Oddity. As it was common with all other shows of that period LSTNT was played in the 2nd half of the show and after Width Of A Circle and the band intro. This I have corrected here.
It appears to me that the original recording was made on a C90 tape (there is a cut at the start of WOAC after 43:50 min. running time as with most others recordings of the tour) and included the complete show but a gen or more later the show was copied on a C60 tape.
This made it necessary to put LSTNT on the first tape side to get below 30 min.
Will we ever get the complete show?
Also in the records there are 2 shows given in Chatham for that day. It is not clear if this is the matinee or the evening show. As all available tapes are from the same source it seems that only one of the shows was recorded. Or does it mean that they counted the show with a break after Space Oddity as 2 shows?
