  1. I attended the show and was in the first row, standing up against the stage. When the riot broke out, the crowds rushed the stage, crushing me. Bowie’s bass guitarist, Herbie Flowers, reached down, grabbed my hand, and pulled me to the stage. He rushed me backstage and out into the parking lot. I was separated from my friends, so he gave me $20 for a taxi home.
49 years later, I was put in touch with his art instructor in England; she mentioned me to him, and he remembered everything. I had hoped to see him at the end of September 2024, but sadly, he passed away two weeks before. I’m forever grateful to him; he literally saved my life.

  2. This was one of the worst concerts I ever attended at the Civic Center. I high tailed it out of there when the chairs started to fly. Played a little over 45 min with no encore. The fans were pissed.

  3. I was there…3/4 way up centre…concert ended 57 minutes in…no oncore…(first time grey metal chairs on floor)—and last time) watched as crowd called for encore…watched as people threw chairs in a big pile…Cops line up on stage…people threw chairs on stage and police threw them back…CRAZY

  4. I was there, my 1st show ever13 years old siiting on the boards on the center line directly across from the stage. Went on to see him 4 more times.
I always wondered why he didn’t come back from to sing a single encour. Chairs started to fly and people got hurt.
    Tyvm for this post
